Digital Television

Welcome to the Digital Television page, there are two standards of television signal and they are analogue and digital. The analogue signal is what has been around since the dawn of television and the digital signal is a new, much improved signal that offers much more than the old analogue system. Sky is a great choice when it comes to digital television.

There will also soon be only one system as the old analogue system is being turned off gradually so it makes allot of sense to switch to digital television. There are lots of ways of receiving digital television and we will cover those over several pages, it is easy and cheap to get digital television so there has never been a better time to switch.

So you are probably wondering what is so good about digital television? Well where do we start, the first thing that you will notice is the improvement in quality as the picture and sound quality are much better. This is because digital technology is much more detailed and accurate than analogue and so the signal has a much better quality, it also does not suffer from interference or weak signal like the old analogue system.

The next big improvement is the number of channels as there are lots more to choose from which include general channels such as BBC3, BBC4, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4, E4, More4 and many others and also lots of specialist channels such as news, documentary, music and children's channels. And on the premium digital television services such as Sky or cable you get access to a huge amount of additional channels which are literally in the hundreds and include premium channels such as sports and movies.

Digital television also offers a much more advanced television viewing experience with the interactive services. These interactive services often allow you to change camera angles or even choose between several events and there are also often games and interactive polls that you can participate in. These interactive services are available via the red button and also offer a much better service then Teletext ever offered with a much nicer system and lots of information.
